1. Budget, Budget, Budget!!!
2. Everyone will give you advice; just remember their intentions are good. However, it is your wedding, don't try and be a people pleaser! It is your day and should be just as you wish.
3. Organization is the key. Always have a plan B; Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate with your plans. Find a nice indoor spot at your venue that you like in case that dreaded snowstorm arrives early!
4. Hire a coordinator! Yes, we are biased, but in the long run it is in your best interest. Not only for your and your family, but for your vendors as well.
5. Have a theme! It will help you make decisions and not feel as if you are throwing a bunch of things together that don't mesh.
6. Entertainment is important! Let's be honest, everyone wants to party at weddings. Make sure to research your DJ and/or band, they will be the key to making your reception a success.
7. Give yourself at least SIX months to plan your wedding. Have a running to do list that allows you to check tasks off as you complete them. You don't want to wait until the last minute, it will only add to your stress. (this is also where your wedding planner comes into play)
8. Don't get caught up in the little things. Focus on the things that are very important to you for your wedding day.
9. Take care of yourself! There is nothing worse than a sleep deprived bride! Let your wedding party help you that is what they are there for.
10. Last and certainly not least, relax and enjoy this process. Being engaged is very exciting and you should absolutely enjoy every part of this time in your life.
